Our kids Program is designed for kids from 4 to 13 years old. Classes are offered for different age groups, 4 to 7 years old and 8 to 14 years old. Classes take place on different days, and on Fridays we have an open mat for the kids where all our students can come and practice what they learnt during the week under supervision of our instructors.
Our 4 to 7 year old program is focused on helping kids improve their coordination and spacial ability. We gradually introduce new techniques where they learn now to fall without getting injured, perform exercises that improve their balance. Over time, we start teaching them some basic throws and the instructors pay individual attention to how the kids develop to ensure they progress steadily and safely. The class is divided into a warm up, funcional exercises to learn coordination and improve their fitness, technique trainning and in the end of the class our instructors do a fun activity to encourage the kids to socialize. Our teaching method is based on the fundamentals of Judo, and focus on discipline, respect and teamwork. Our instructors constantly talk about the importance of respecting parents, teachers and be respectful to those around them. The BJJ belt system introduces the concept of reward, with the kids gaining stripes and changing belts as they demostrate progress and show dedication to the classes. Over time our students become more confident, focused and calm, and learn now to channel their energy productively.
Our 8 to 14 year old program focuses on improving the fitness and teaching the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The class is dividend into a warm up, technique trainning and practice, which is the same basic structure of the adult classes. Students will learn self-defense and build confidence that will help them deal with challenges they may face at school. We teach them how to deal with bullying, defend themselves in the case they need without causing harm to other people. Jiu Jitsu practicioners are thought to use their skills to avoid violance and agression. As the kids progress, they are thought increasingly more complex techniques of attack and defense, and our instructors act as role models for discipline and respect. They emphasize the important of taking their studies seriously and respect their parents and teachers. Some of our students decide to compete, and our instructors help them practice for the competitions and join them for the tournments to provide support. Our students tend to become friend through a common interest, and we thrive to maintain a respectful family environment.
